Psychotherapy
Psychotherapy or personal counseling with a psychotherapist, is an intentional interpersonal relationship used by the psychotherapists to aid a client in problems of living. Our aim is to help you, our client, accomplish permanent, positive change in your life, to achieve emotional harmony and balance for yourself through holistic, empowering therapies.
It aims to increase the individual’s sense of their own well-being. Psychotherapists employ a range of techniques based on experiential relationship building, dialogue, communication and behaviou change and that are designed to improve the mental health of a client, or to improve group relationships (such as in a family).
Essentially, the work of Counselling and Psychotherapy is about exploring how we live our lives. It is about considering our current thinking and behaviour patterns and working towards new ways of addressing life. Most importantly, it is about doing that within a supportive environment.
There is quite a bit of cross-over between counselling and psychotherapy. However, psychotherapy is seen as a deeper way of working with issues – more of a re-working of old, well-learned habits, patterns and reactions to situations and to help you identify, understand and re-organise those beliefs and behaviours, which have been limiting for you- from earlier experiences in life, perhaps even from childhood.
This growth is an essential stage of your journey, just as the Chrysalis is for the butterfly.
And then the day came when the risk to remain tight in a bud was more painful than the risk it took to blossom.
